The new boiler, early in construction, prior to the installation of flues and attachment points. The ring shown on the top sheet was a temporary attachment used to move the boiler around. Unlike the original the new boiler has no drop tubes used for quick steaming, but rather uses a fully smoke flue design. This was done to make an efficient boiler which would carry more water than the original and be safer to fire. It was guilt by Boiler Erection and Repair Co. in Ambler, PA. At $14,000.00 the boiler was the most costly part of the restoration process.
