According to Silsby / American Fire Engine Company records this was a Silsby engine built by American in 1896. From the caption below it appears that the engine may be older. It is possible that it was an 1878 engine completely rebuilt by American and given a new number. Does anyone know the history of this engine and if older, the original number?
