Brother firemen from Yantic Fire Department in Yantic, CT made the long drive to Honesdale, arriving Friday evening. They brought with them Silsby steamer 1001, a beautiful 4th. size engine manufactured in 1891. They also brought a beautifully restored hose cart of the same era.

In 1991 members of Protection Engine Co. No. 3 participated in the 100th. Anniversary celebration for their engine.

While here the Connecticut got a little unexpected exercise. The team to pull their engine unloaded at the starting point for the parade as requested. The steamer however was in our station one half mile away. Members from Yantic and Honesdale hand pulled the engine to the start point. All agreed than even though many such engines were equipped for hand drawing, Horses were the way to go.
