Silsby Engine #834

A letter was received on April 21, 2000 identifying a Silsby Engine not previously known to survive. It is Engine No. 834, a 5th size apparatus originally built in 1882, for Fayetteville, NC.

The old engine which has been stored both inside and out over the years had deteriorated to what is described as a sad state. Many parts are missing and all that remains of the wheels are the rims and hubs.

Finally a group of individuals in Fayetteville have taken on the monumental task of restoring the engine before it is lost forever. Anyone interested in helping in any way can contact Dan Eberhardt.
